# Last Man on the Door — Lot09 audio credits The active sound engine uses the real performances and foley below. It does not load the old `lot08audio-*` synthesized quartet/voices, the synthetic `breath`, or the synthetic `rumble` bed. Historical files remain distributed for provenance, but are not loaded by the game. ## Music — public domain **Alexander Borodin, String Quartet No. 2 in D major (1881), III. Notturno: Andante — Musopen String Quartet, 2012.** The composition is public domain; Musopen released this recording into the public domain, with an unrestricted fallback permission where dedication is not legally possible. This is a modern recorded performance of period repertoire, not a recording of the Titanic's orchestra. - [Musopen's work page](https://musopen.org/music/690-string-quartet-no-2-in-d-major/) - [Recording and dedication](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Borodin_-_String_Quartet_No._2_in_D_major_-_III._Notturno._Andante_(Musopen_String_Quartet).flac) - [Musopen's public-domain archive](https://archive.org/details/MusopenCollectionAsFlac) - [Public Domain Mark](https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/mark/1.0/) The game uses the first 180 seconds, downmixed to mono for a positional source, resampled to 32 kHz, gently filtered and scaled with preserved dynamics, with three-second endpoint fades. This is an edited repeating excerpt, not a complete performance or a newly composed piece. Ogg Vorbis and MP3 versions are supplied. ## Recorded voices — CC0 - **StarNinjas — [Crowd Shouting/Speaking Ambience](https://opengameart.org/content/crowd-shoutingspeaking-ambience).** The author recorded family members speaking and shouting and mixed the takes. Used as a brief crowd cue only near a group of living passengers. It is acted crowd material, not a field recording of a disaster. - **AuraVoice / Nocturnal_Vanguard — [Female Scream 1](https://opengameart.org/content/female-scream-1) and [Please help somebody!](https://opengameart.org/content/please-help-somebody).** Recorded voice performances. The first complete English distress call is used. - **JohnsonBrandEditing — [human male scream multi](https://freesound.org/people/JohnsonBrandEditing/sounds/173944/).** Cuts `aargh3.ogg` and `aargh4.ogg`, redistributed with individual source/licence information by [congusbongus](https://opengameart.org/content/aargh-male-screams). Only these CC0 cuts are used. Cuts 0–2 from the same archive have different licences and are excluded. - **OwlishMedia / owlstorm — [Sound Effects Pack](https://opengameart.org/content/sound-effects-pack).** Actual male/female breathing and frightened breathing recordings. These are not labelled or represented as sobbing or crying. Voices are trimmed, downmixed, filtered, resampled, faded and reduced in level. There is no generated speech, formant synthesis, or randomized voice pitch. ## Foley and water — CC0 - **OwlishMedia / owlstorm — [Sound Effects Pack](https://opengameart.org/content/sound-effects-pack):** individual footsteps cut from `Footsteps/running-shoes-1.wav`; the ambient flood bed comes from `Water/tap-water-2.wav`. This is recorded flowing water, not an authentic sinking-ship recording. - **rubberduck — [100 CC0 SFX #2](https://opengameart.org/content/100-cc0-sfx-2):** `sfx100v2_door_03.ogg` and `sfx100v2_glass_02.ogg`. The source describes them as door/glass foley; the recording setup is not specified. These cues only play on corresponding game events. The sources in the two preceding sections use [CC0 1.0](https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/), permitting commercial use and modification without an attribution requirement. Credits are retained voluntarily. No NC, ND, or ShareAlike material is included. ## Crying — attribution required **“Sad Male” — Mike Koenig / SoundBible.com**, licensed under [Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/). [Original recording and licence](https://soundbible.com/2014-Sad-Male.html). The publisher commissioned a male voice actor for this recording of sadness and crying. Files `lot09-cry1` and `lot09-cry2` are 4.9 and 3.5 second excerpts, converted to mono, filtered, resampled, faded, reduced in level and encoded as Ogg/MP3. No endorsement by the artist or publisher is implied. **Retain this credit and licence link when distributing the game or derivatives.** A visible “Crédits sonores” link to this notice is provided in the game. Unlike the CC0 sources, these two derivatives require attribution. The existing CC0 ocean, wind, heavy metal groan, short creak, gun effect, splash, walking and impact sounds remain; their credits are in `README.md` and `sources.json`. The metal groan was recorded from a bunker door and then slowed, and the gunshot is a designed composite: neither is claimed to be authentic Titanic/Webley audio. ## Rebuild and verification `lot09-sources.json` contains download URLs, exact original SHA-256 hashes, licences and origin descriptions. `lot09-manifest.json` records derivative durations, codecs, bytes, SHA-256 hashes, decoded peaks/RMS and endpoint jumps. Run `python scripts/lot09audio-build.py /path/to/lot09audio-sources` after placing the downloads and extracted packs at the paths listed by that script. Validation is automated/offline: actual codec decoding, peak/RMS and boundary checks, source hashes, event isolation, distance falloff, geometry occlusion and Web Audio lifecycle mocks. No browser or subjective listening test was performed in this task. Earlier candidate files on Freesound/Wikimedia and an independently released crowd pack could not be downloaded here; none of those unacquired files is included. The shipped crying excerpts are the verified SoundBible recording credited above, distinct from the frightened breathing recordings. ## Lot 11 update The current game replaces the short ambient loops with longer edited recordings and adds many foley variants. [Lot 11 credits and mix details](lot11-NOTICE.md) list the CC0 sources, 64–127 second beds and irregular cue scheduler. The quartet and all attribution above remain unchanged.
